Ingredients:
- Brownie mix
- 2 eggs
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 1/2 cup water
- 36 Unwrapped caramels
- 3 tablespoons whipped cream
- 1 1/3 cups semisweet chocolate chunks
- 2/3 cups coarsely chopped pecans
Preparatoin:
In a large bowl, mix the brownie mix, water , vegetable oil, and eggs. After mixing it, preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Pour the mix into a 9-inch square pan , then bake for 18 minutes. After putting the brownies into the oven , my grandma would do a funny dance and run to the bathroom. After she would come out, we would go ouut and put corn in the bird houses and watered all of the plants. Then, we would go back inside an tend to the cake.
Microwave the unwrapped caramels and whipped cream in a microwave safe bowl for 2-3 minutes, stirring occasionally, until smooth. After the whipped cream is finished, my grandma would say, "Give me two sets of 2/3 chocolate chunks and 1/3 pecans." My cousins and I would run around the kitchen like headless chickens getting whatever she needed to make the process go faster.
Next, my grandma would pour caramel over the brownies, sprinkle the chocolate chunks, add the pecans, and repeat until the caramel, chocolate, and pecans were almost gone. Then the real fun would begin. She would put the brownies into the oven to bake for 34-37 more minutes. While we are waiting we would play a round of uno and eat what was left of the chocolate, pecans and caramel. Then, we would start playing a long game of phase 10. We would have to watch my Aunt Barbara because she would cheat while shuffling if you didn't watch her. In between the rounds of Phase 10, Grandma would check the brownies progress. After the time was up, she would sit them out to cool for about an hour. After the game was over we would hook up the different game systems and challenge each other to different games. I would always be in the middle of the winner and the loser because my older cousins would beat me and I would beat my little cousins. After an hour we would put the brownies in the refrigerator to cool for another hour. then we take them out and cut them into many rows and eat them. During this time my granddaddy would take us to get snow cones in a cup, to the park to play or fish, and take pictures of us being silly. When we returned to Grandma's house all hungry and tired, we would shower and eat the brownies while discussing all of the fun we had spending the day together.
